STEM Coding & Robotics Workshop Saturdays: (Grades K-5)
Coding 101: Coding Concepts & Algorithms - 2 Hours
Children will be introduced to the language of programming using the 6 basic building blocks of coding. Sequences, Loops, Events, Variables, Functions and Conditionals.
Children learn about sequences and simple loops using the Wonder Workshop Blockly app on a compatible device. Children will be introduced to the Wonder Workshop Dash robot. Children will program (and debug) the robot to move, record and playback, collect and distribute objects, draw and more.
Coding 102: Sequences & Loops - 90 Minutes
Children learn about events in addition to reinforcing their knowledge of sequences and loops using the Wonder Workshop Blockly app on a compatible device. Children will learn how to change the parameters (distances, speeds, etc.) in programs and use conditional cues and reactions.
Coding 103: Conditions/Variables & Decomposition - 90 Minutes
Children learn about nested conditionals and variables. They also practice using more advanced event handlers and loops in their code using the Wonder Workshop Blockly app and a compatible device. Children will use the robot’s sensors, programmable buttons, and verbal cues to program (and debug) Dash through challenges.
Coding 104: Branch - 90 Minutes
Children define and learn about variables. They also practice using more advanced conditionals in their code. Understand the benefits of using variables. Use variables to revise code and complete coding challenges in an iterative process using the Blockly app on their compatible device.
